The comparison
Turf alternatives, honestly
If you play Turf, you are already doing the hard part — walking around a city on purpose to take GPS points off other people. There is no audience closer to what we built, so this is worth being precise about rather than salesy.
Turf has run since 2010 and is properly established across the Nordics. We are far newer and far smaller. What follows is a structural difference, not a claim to be better.
Rounds versus permanence
Turf runs in rounds of about a month. When a round ends, scores reset and everyone starts again. That is a genuinely good design: nobody is permanently behind, a new player in March is not competing with someone's 2014 head start, and there is always a fresh reason to go out this weekend.
BloodRivals does not reset. An address you claim stays yours and keeps earning until another player takes it off you. The upside is that what you built last month still means something. The downside is the honest one:a long-established player really is ahead of you, and the only way past them is to take their ground.
Which of those you want is a taste question, not a quality one. If the monthly reset is the part of Turf you like most, you will probably not enjoy us.
Zones versus addresses
Turf's zones are placed — a curated set of points, positioned and named, which is why zone density varies so much between towns. Ours are mapped buildings: the claimable thing is an actual address, so anywhere with buildings on the map has something to take. That cuts both ways. It means no empty stretches where nobody bothered to place zones, and it also means less of the deliberate design that makes a good Turf area good.

The board, right now
On population we would rather show you than tell you. The board currently has 123 registered players holding 23,664 properties. (as published 2026-09-13 — the app shows the live count)
Population is the one to judge us on. Turf will have more people near you tonight than we will, almost wherever you are. If a busy map is what you want, that is the honest answer and it is not us.
Common questions
- How is BloodRivals different from Turf?
- Turf is played in rounds of about a month, and scores reset when a round ends. In BloodRivals nothing resets — an address you claim stays yours, and keeps earning, until another player takes it off you.
- Does BloodRivals have zones like Turf?
- No. Turf has a fixed set of placed zones. BloodRivals uses mapped buildings, so the claimable thing is an actual address rather than a zone somebody positioned in advance.
- Is BloodRivals free and ad-free like Turf?
- It is free to play with no advertising of any kind, and claiming addresses costs nothing. Unlike Turf's one-off supporter purchase, BloodRivals sells BloodCoins — an in-game currency — in packs. Nothing has to be bought to play.
- Does BloodRivals do anything about GPS spoofing?
- There are server-side checks — the server looks for physically impossible jumps between consecutive actions, records them for staff review, and can reject the action outright. We won't claim more than that: the server cannot prove where a phone really is, and neither can anyone else's.
- Can I play BloodRivals in Sweden, Denmark or Finland?
- The app works anywhere with mapped buildings, but the live player base is concentrated in Norway. Elsewhere in the Nordics you would mostly be starting a board rather than joining one.
Free on iOS and Android. No ads. Optional in-app purchases.
