The comparison
Pikmin Bloom alternatives, honestly
Pikmin Bloom is the gentle end of this genre: it counts your steps, you collect Pikmin and plant flowers along the way, and everyone you play with is on your side. Most people looking past it want more of that. A few want the opposite — a walk where something can be lost. We are only for the second group.
The part where Pikmin Bloom wins
It measures your walking — through Apple Health on iPhone — and we count no steps at all: no distance, no pace, nothing written to Apple Health or Google Fit. It is co-operative: you team up against mushrooms, and the weekly step goal works with friends however far away they live. And it is calm. Nobody can undo your day.
We are none of those things. BloodRivals is competitive, and a competitive game needs other players near you. Ours are few, and concentrated in Norway. If you want a friendly reason to walk, stay with Pikmin Bloom — or see walking games for the other gentle options.
If you want the walk to matter
In Pikmin Bloom the map fills with flowers, yours and other players', and none of it is anyone's to lose. That is the design, and for many people it is the whole appeal.
BloodRivals gives you something to hold instead. You claim real street addresses by standing at them, build them up, and they earn in-game income while they are yours. Other players can take them — on foot if you left one undefended, with fighters if you did not. So the detour past your street on the way home is no longer decoration: it is a check on what you still hold. There is no daily target and nothing expires if you skip a week.

Common questions
- Is BloodRivals a relaxing walking game like Pikmin Bloom?
- No. It is competitive: you claim real addresses and other players can take them from you. If what you like about Pikmin Bloom is that nothing goes wrong, stay with Pikmin Bloom.
- Does BloodRivals track my walking like Pikmin Bloom does?
- No. There is no step counter, no distance total, no pace, and nothing is written to Apple Health or Google Fit. Pikmin Bloom measures your walking; this gives you a reason to walk to a particular place and nothing more.
- Can I play BloodRivals on my own, like Pikmin Bloom?
- You can play without a team, but not without other players. Our map is populated only by what other people have claimed, and the live player base is small and concentrated in Norway, mainly Trondheim and Oslo. Outside those cities you would be walking around an empty board.
- Do purchases affect rank in BloodRivals?
- We are not a no-pay-to-win game. BloodRivals sells BloodCoins, and those can be exchanged into in-game coins that count toward net worth — which is what rank is. A lock stops players inside the top slice of the leaderboard from exchanging, but it covers that one exchange and nothing else, so the board is not purchase-proof and coins bought on the way up stay counted. There are no ads, loot boxes or gacha.
- What does BloodRivals give a Pikmin Bloom player?
- Stakes. An address you claim earns in-game income while you hold it, and someone can take it back — so the walk past it on the way home is no longer decoration. Whether that is fun or stressful depends entirely on the person.
