The comparison
Geocaching alternatives, honestly
Geocaching has run since 2000 and has a culture, not just a database. Most people searching for an alternative want more of it — and that is a different answer from ours, so it goes first.
If you want more places to go
Munzee is the closest in spirit — physical stickers and codes, scanned rather than signed, with its own long-running community. If containers are not the point for you, Adventure Lab® keeps you inside the geocaching world with self-guided tours and experiences instead.
We are neither, and if that is what you came for you should stop here. It costs us an install and saves you a walk.
The narrow case where we fit
Geocaching is cooperative and permanent. You find what a stranger hid, log it, and put it back for the next person. Nothing is ever taken from you, because nothing is yours — that is the design, not a gap in it.
The one thing it deliberately does not give you is a reason thatpersists between walks. In BloodRivals an address you claim keeps earning while you hold it, and stops when a rival takes it off you. You are not checking what you found; you are checking what you still have.
That is a smaller, more competitive, and much less peaceful hobby. If the quiet is why you cache, this is the wrong app.

The board, right now
That last row is the one to judge us on, so here it is as a number. The board currently has 123 registered players holding 23,664 properties. (as published 2026-09-13 — the app shows the live count)

Common questions
- Is BloodRivals like geocaching?
- Only in that both send you to real coordinates on foot. Geocaching is cooperative and permanent — you find what someone else hid, log it, and leave it for the next person. BloodRivals is competitive and impermanent: you claim an address, and another player can take it from you.
- Are there physical containers to find?
- No. Nothing is hidden in the real world and there is nothing to sign or replace. The map is built from mapped buildings, so the claimable thing is an address rather than a cache someone placed.
- Do you need a premium membership for BloodRivals?
- No. BloodRivals is free to play with no advertising. There are optional in-app purchases, but nothing has to be bought to play.
- Does it work in the countryside like geocaching does?
- The map does — mapped buildings exist almost everywhere. The players do not: the live base is small and concentrated in Norway. Geocaching's database is global and decades deep, and for rural play that is a real advantage we cannot match.
- What is the equivalent of a "find"?
- Claiming an address, which you do by standing at it — close enough that you have physically arrived, not merely nearby. Unlike a find, it does not stay done — it earns income while you hold it and stops the moment somebody takes it.
